Open Mics
Be a part of our monthly Open Mics every fourth Monday (and select Fridays) this year! Swing by the coziest Asian American owned cafe in Williamsburg to workshop your performance in a safe space, connect with our community of artists, and support your peers. At a Keepsake Open Mic, all types of performance are welcome, artists are given ten minutes each to perform, and sets are scheduled in advance to allow for equal opportunity and a diverse line-up.

Frames of Reference
Peer through different windows of inspiration at the most interactive Keepsake House show yet! Submit your own letter or dream for the chance to have your story turned into a performance by Artists in Residence Emily McNally and Paula Croxson and songwriter Sofía Campoamor. Watch these artists share the stage as inspiration turns to improvisation, then join them in a workshop facilitated by Gaia Music Collective, where together you’ll turn a fictional work into an original song.
The Writers Room at Meadowlark
Join us at Keepsake House’s exclusive stage at Meadowlark, a Hudson Valley music festival celebrating roots and independent music in support of local farmers.
The Writers Room, taking place inside the Cider House at Stone Ridge Orchard, highlights emerging artists local to the Hudson Valley, Catskills, and New York City in four sets themed around stages of growth: seed, bloom, plant, and harvest. Welcome autumn and support your neighbors’ music at this one-of-a-kind festival stage whose bill was wholly created by public submissions.
Meadowlark In the Round
Experience a taste of Meadowlark in its smallest and most intimate setting on Friday evening, where Keepsake House presents four solo women artists from the region and beyond inside the acoustic Cider House stage. Grab a drink and find a cozy spot to watch Ella Ray Kondrat, Jayla Kai, Jolie Holland, and Miriam Elhajli meet in the round to share songs and stories with each other and all of you.
Inner Child
Heal your inner child with songs and stories that reframe traumatic experiences and rediscover childlike wonder. Keepsake House Artists in Residence Adeline Um and Azhar Bande-Ali join electronic musician dolltr!ck and singer/songwriter Jen Kwok to perform in the round and share their experiences growing up Asian American, choosing to pursue artistic paths, and using nostalgia as medicine for the soul.
Linguistics
Explore the language of music and the music of language in this classic Keepsake House show, with performances in Spanish from Keepsake Songwriter in Residence Kacia Flórez, English and Chinese from Storyteller in Residence Katherine Gan, Swedish and Swiss German from Helena Hallberg, Hindi from Shevya, and Thai from special guest Napat Snidvongs. These multilingual musicians will meet in the round to explore global folklore and celebrate immigrant histories in a show that strives to illustrate how art is a language that’s universal.
Metamorphosis
Celebrate the new year and emergence of our 2024 Artists in Residence with an afternoon of songs, stories, and dim sum! Sankofa
Unpack the differences between appropriation and homage through the lens of Sankofa, the Ghanian concept of looking backwards at past lessons to grow with forward motion. Black women songwriters Moyana Olivia and Sharell Bryant join poet Val Rigodon and special guest Valarie Walker in music and conversation that include both original works and covers of Black creators, because it is never taboo to fetch what is at risk of being left behind.
From Song to Story: A Writing Workshop
Create stories from song in this writing workshop, the first of its kind. Poet, actor, and playwright David Glover will guide writers as they are prompted by original songs played by folk artist Morninglory. Find new inspiration, constructive feedback, and a sense of community in this safe space.
Americana the Beautiful
Challenge what it means to play Americana music and achieve the “American dream." Artists in Residence Napat Snidvongs and Valarie Walker join songwriters Garrett Owen and Laura Zarougian to share experiences and songs about America in the first-ever collaborative showcase between Keepsake House and Twangville. Peek behind the industrial curtains with us as we unearth the music of this land, its past and present, played by the people who are here.
Women of the House
Gather around the songwriters’ table at the illustrious City Winery, complete with a full dinner menu and wine pairings. Korean-American jazz-pop songwriter and Keepsake all-star Sarah Kang joins Indian Film Music play-back singer Shakthisree Gopalan, Colombian-Ecuadorian Queens native folkloric songwriter Kacia Flórez, and many special guests to take turns in song and conversation about their experiences as women of color in the music industry.
Found Family
Make yourself at home at Keepsake House for our inaugural Pride month celebration. Artist in Residence TONIE co-hosts and joins fellow queer songwriters AERI, Emily McNally, Frank Song Jr., and kid sibling for songs and stories about childhood, parents, and chosen family. Mosaic Mind
Celebrate Asian Pacific Islander Heritage Month (APIHM) with Artists in Residence Robert Kuang and TONIE, Keepsake co-founder Jasmine Jang, and songwriters Frank Song Jr. and Shakthisree Gopalan. Explore the inner workings of the mind and break barriers as these five artists bridge the gaps across identities and genres, instruments and vocal ranges, in a performance that highlights and humanizes mental health.
Sounds of the Invisible
Hear the things you cannot see and gather round the proverbial Keepsake campfire for a night of ghost stories and spirit songs. Artists in Residence Napat Snidvongs and Valarie Walker share the stage with songwriter Elizabeth & the Catapult to explore all things paranormal, from magic to mediumship. This 4/20, come high and leave haunted.
Outside the Lines
Draw your own conclusions as pop punk, comedy, and indie folk blur across a stage. In this experimental roundtable, Resident Songwriter Alex Petti will join Ashley Virginia and Morninglory to cover each other’s original songs, and Resident Storyteller Grace Aki will interpret the meanings behind each song… as she hears it for the first time from someone who didn’t write it! Bend genres and decipher new lyrical meanings in a show that colors outside the lines.

Watch music meet the moving image in this special collaboration between Asian CineVision and Keepsake House for the 45th Asian American International Film Festival presented by Citi. Songwriters ÊMIA, Mai Anna, and TONIE will take to the stage in performance and conversation with filmmakers C.K. Hugo Chung, Joshua Chee, Kimberly Te, and Lee Milby. Sing along to the best of local indie pop, dance your heart out to the music videos that will hit straight in your feels, and grab a colorful cocktail at this music night out that promises to be as sweet as a summer sunset.
Lighting Sparks
Find inspiration in a Brooklyn loft as summer arrives. Resident songwriter Morninglory, resident storyteller David Glover, and singer/songwriters AERI and Frank Bell will meet in the round to perform and discuss their writing processes at the cozy Super Secret Arts in Gowanus this June. What makes a story or a song? How do writers know when a work is finished? And where does inspiration spark? Swing by for a jolt of creativity and to brighten your night. There may or may not be lamps on stage.
