Kacia Flórez (she/her)
Kacia Flórez is a Colombian-Ecuadorian Queens native singer/songwriter, whose music is inspired by folkloric rhythms from her country of origin. Her inspirations come from her first music teacher, her father, who introduced Kacia to a diverse amount of Latin American genres from a young age. She also admires modern-day artists who fusion and have reintroduced folklore to our current generation such as Natalia Lafourcade and Mon Lafferte. Kacia has performed for the Ecuadorian American Cultural Center, The Queens Museum, The Museum of Human Achievement, and has been involved with ongoing community work through Queens-based art collective Kaleidospace.
Sarah Kang (she/her)
Sarah Kang is a NYC-based singer-songwriter, whose genre is a seamless blend of jazz, R&B, and pop paired with thoughtful lyricism and warm, cozy vocals. Born in South Korea and raised in LA, Chicago, and Dallas, she grew up playing the piano and the French horn but never imagined she'd ever become a professional musician. Being raised in an immigrant family, a creative career was never presented to her as a real possibility––only a pipe dream. However, with the encouragement of her husband and friends in 2017, she quit her job as a music teacher and took the jump into full-time music. Since then, she has released two EPs (“One” and “maybe i'm better now”) and a full-length album titled “how i remember.”
Her most well-known song "Summer Is for Falling in Love" has been featured in Nespresso, Uniqlo, and LG advertisements as well as Korean dramas and TV shows. Sarah often describes herself as someone who is perpetually nostalgic, sometimes preemptively nostalgic for moments that haven’t even passed yet. This results in a sort of timelessness in her songwriting, which evoke memories, tell intimate stories, and remind us of the finiteness of life, but also of hope for the future.
Sarah has previously performed in the Keepsake House shows Sarah Kang, Foresight, Show Yourself, Linguistics, and From Story to Song (January 2023), and was a 2022 Keepsake House Artist in Residence.
