Outside the Lines

Draw your own conclusions as pop punk, comedy, and indie folk blur across a stage. In this experimental roundtable, Resident Songwriter Alex Petti will join Ashley Virginia and Morninglory to cover each other’s original songs, and Resident Storyteller Grace Aki will interpret the meanings behind each song… as she hears it for the first time from someone who didn’t write it! Bend genres and decipher new lyrical meanings in a show that colors outside the lines.

Alex Petti (he/him)

Alex Petti is a Lebanese Irish-Catholic writer from Massachusetts who grew up as a pop punk rocker. Though his dreams of headlining Warped Tour have ended, the energy of the genre still infuses his music. He writes musical theater shows in the genres of punk, folk and rock, and is the front man of good thoughts, his NYC based rock band. Alex is a graduate of Carnegie Mellon, a composer in the BMI Advanced Musical Theatre Workshop, a 2022 Participant in the Johnny Mercer Songwriters Project and a proud Dad to his cat, Sonia.

Alex has previously performed in the Keepsake House shows A Keepsake Christmas and Foresight and is a 2023 Artist in Residence.

Ashley Virginia (she/they)

North Carolina singer/songwriter Ashley Virginia’s style synthesizes an eclectic spread, somewhere between Indie-Folk, 70s Country cool, West Coast cosmic Americana, and 60s Rock n’ Roll. Beyond an obvious artistic aptitude, complete with ear-catching melodies and soul-baring lyricism, Ashley's music conveys a deeply intimate ability to share the most terrifying pieces of herself. In August 2021, she released her debut album, And Life Just Goes On Living, which leans into themes of mental health, healing, and socio-political commentary.

In addition to her solo work, she is a comedian and multihyphenate artist based in New York City. Her critically acclaimed storytelling podcast, “Tell Me on a Sunday” on Broadway Podcast Network features guests from Broadway and beyond. Grace is a regular Broadway News correspondent for Broadway Radio. Grace is represented by Paradigm.

Grace has previously performed in the Keepsake House show Foresight and is a 2023 Artist in Residence.

Morninglory (she/her)

Accomplished vocalist, actor, and writer, Livvy Marcus performs atmospheric folk music under the name “Morninglory,” her legal middle name. Born and raised in southern Massachusetts, Livvy graduated with a bachelor of music from BW Conservatory in Ohio. Her debut album, “Livvy Marcus Eats Her Shoe,” was released on all platforms in March 2022. She hasn’t gone a day without chocolate since 2018 and would generally always rather be singing. Do you like dancing? Do you sometimes live in the liminal space between giggling and crying?

Morninglory has previously performed in the Keepsake House shows Foresight, Lighting Sparks, A Keepsake Christmas, and From Story to Song and was a 2022 Keepsake House Artist in Residence. Read our in-depth interview with Morninglory here.
